Health Care Debate and Food?

In his recent op-ed in the New York Times, Michael Pollan posits that the health care crisis is tied to the food crisis in America. In his bestsellers he connects American's eating (corn syrup and other refined convenience foods) with our health.

I've always been a pretty healthy eater (not counting the two years in a college dorm) and have always loved to cook. What better way to keep healthy than to cook your own food, to see the food from the raw ingredients to the table? The idea of making crepes can seem daunting to some home cooks, but they're actually a quick and easy dinner, lunch or breakfast idea. Eggs, flour, milk. Done.

So, who would have guessed that there'd be a connection between the healthcare debate and eating crepes?
